Matthew van der Want began his career in public interest law, litigation and family law. His current focus is mining law, general commercial work, commercial drafting, litigation, administrative law, black economic empowerment and family law.He is an expert on South African mining and oil and gas law and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002, its Regulations, the amended Mining Charter, and related legislation. He was previously a partner of Bell Dewar (now Fasken Martineau) and was a senior associate at Webber Wentzel. He obtained the degrees of BA (Hons) and LLB (with distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He lectured part time at the School of Law of the University of the Witwatersrand and was head of the evictions unit at the Wits Law Clinic in 2006. E-mail Matthew
Sershin Pillay joined us as an associate on 1 February, 2016. Sershin completed his LLB at WITS in 2013 and completed his articles in December 2015 at the WITS Law Clinic, which has trained some of the best attorneys around.
